Soon after I launched my site, I ran into a few issues that I have come to learn are common traps for new site-runners. Namely, I added a few modules to the content management system that conflicted with others.
Essentially, this site runs on a powerful content management system (CMS) called Drupal. It provides a lot of built-in functionality, such as the login form, search box, and the "basic" management of the content, like this story you're reading. I put basic in quotes because, while it seems basic to us, there's a lot going on under the hood. There is also a robust community of developers who provide plug-in modules that enhance and add to the site functionality. Unfortunately, although most modules work seamlessly together, sometimes a module doesn't always play nicely with others. I appear to have missed some of the notes explaining that. At any rate, the site was very slow and I was getting errors when I tried to reach some of the administration pages. I did some research and found out the general problem, which was that I needed to select my modules more carefully. So, here's the new website, justsoimclear.net Mk II. I'm choosing my modules more carefully and the site should be more stable and quicker. Please let me know if there are any problems.
